Rose talks about working at the gin factory

I came out on strike, I called all the others out on strike, that was when I worked at the gin factory, filling up bottles…scotch whiskey. And they gave one woman the sack and I didn’t agree with it and I said ‘Right we’re going out on strike!’ and we did. That was the Nicholson gin factory, in Stratford. Working conditions, cause they sacked the forelady and I didn’t agree with it so I got them all out on strike [laughs] and I got the sack.
