Ann talks about starting work in cake decorating

You had a few different jobs, then you went into cake decorating. How did that happen?

I went to… it was Price’s then, in Forest Gate. They were advertising for an assistant, and I went there.

Was that a factory?

Yeah, it was mainly all factory work in them days. As I said, you can go out of one job and into another. Then when I went for the interview, she said, ‘The lady upstairs wants an assistant for cake decorating, would you be interested?’ I said I’d try, which I did, and I liked it. Then I went to college to learn more about that and passed the exam.
