October 2018

October sees the project moving ahead very quickly!

The highlight of the month was the filming of Discovering Stratford Village’s video at Newham Archive and Local Studies Library. The video has been a good opportunity for volunteers and staff to reflect on the project and its achievements.

Paul V Dudman delivered a ‘Research Workshop’ to project volunteers focused on secondary sources available on-line. Paul is Archivist at the University of East London and he’s responsible for the UEL Archives.

Oral history collection has moved forward with the contribution, among others, of a former police woman who talked about what being a woman in the police meant back in the days.

Thanks to Newham College staff, during this month’s Local Forum we were able to explore the remaining part of the old Boy’s School building, which is now part of Newham College, and one of the public buildings we have researched and included in the walk app.
